Essay 1 Journal

This first paper was a pain.  I started my research early.  The librarian that was there at the “ask a librarian” desk was helpful.  He helped me find a few books on the catalog that looked like they would help.  Then he showed me how to use the databases.  After we found a few good articles and sent them to my e-mail, we tried to find one in particular I wanted to use, the mouse experiment.  We looked in several databases and could not find it.  We eventually Googled it, and got a lot of hits.  They almost all cited the article from being in The Washington Post, however, we still could not find the article in any of the databases so we were not confident that it actually was in the paper.  After looking for over an hour and a half, I gave up on it.  I looked a few of the books on the list, but only the music dictionaries that I eventually used in the paper were helpful.  I later got an e-mail from him, he had found the article in one of the databases at some point and sent it to me.  I still have not seen him again yet to thank him for looking after I left.  I then wrote the first draft of the paper, which had several problems, as the peer editing notes show.  I did a little more research to find an article with some “they say” in it.  I found a real good one, however I found it in more than one place.  It was almost the exact same article in all two-four places I found it, just a few phrases changed or added here and there.  However, they were all under different titles and had different authors, so I was uncertain whether I could use it.  I made the changes to my first draft according to the comments without adding the “they say”.  The second round of peer editing gave me more things to fix.  After I confirmed that I could use my “they say” article, I added that information into the paper.  I also added in more research I did on bands that are more modern.  It’s a bit annoying that I didn’t have the chance to have my “they say” part edited.  I hope it turned out okay.  Well, that’s that and I’m glad it’s finally over and done with.  I hope the next paper isn’t as annoying as this one was.
